My Pickleball Story

Everyone’s pickleball story has its own path. Some discover the game as you’re looking to fill free time, some are former tennis players (like me) searching for a recreational or competitive outlet, while others are beginners – curious to learn about America’s fastest growing sport. Pickleball is truly for everyone.

I came to love pickleball by accident. I had not stepped onto a tennis court for years due to a spinal injury, when my sister invited me to watch her play a social match with her college friends. I saw the joy, heard their banter - it was truly energizing. When their games concluded, she handed me a paddle, briefed me on the scoring rules, and tossed a yellow ball over the net.

Suddenly, it was all there for me – the movements of tennis, but less strenuous on my back. I embraced the compact serve, the approach to the net, line calls, dinking rallies, waiting for the bounce … and trying to make that perfect shot. We were laughing, we were competing. I was hooked.

Today, the popularity of this paddle sport has snowballed. Seniors yell “PICKLE!” before serving, and young players are reminded not to volley when they step into “the kitchen.” For me, opening the family-run Buxmont Pickleball Club is more than a business. It’s a chance to teach people about a game I love, and create a modern indoor space for players in my local community to come together socially. It’s also an opportunity for me to work with my sister Barbie! I hope, whether you’re new to the game or an enthusiast, you’ll find Buxmont Pickleball to be a big part of your recreational lifestyle.

Beginners: Try Before You Buy

If you always wanted to learn how to play pickleball but didn’t know where to start, we have your answer. Buxmont Pickleball Club brings this fantastic sport to everyone in the community. Non-pickleball players are eligible to try a NO-COST 20-minute clinic exclusively at Buxmont Pickleball Club. You’ll be shown the basics of the game and get an opportunity to test out your prowess on an official regulation indoor court.

We will offer various clinic options, including slots for individuals, groups of 4, and families. CONTACT US for more information to take pickleball for a “test drive”.
